FAQ

What is this?

This website is a puzzle hunt for attendees of the Citadel and Citadel Securities social event on July 25. Each album is a word puzzle in disguise.

A different puzzle will be revealed each day. Everyone who successfully solves the last piece of the puzzle will be entered in a raffle for an exclusive and highly sought after prize.

I have a question.

If you're stuck, or have a question, or you think something's wrong, please email sandor@mysteryleague.com.

How do I solve these puzzles?

For each puzzle, you receive information and must extract an answer from it. In this game, each extraction is a phrase. While the puzzles are all themed around a fictional band, you must solve each one a different way — through a different mechanic, play on words, cipher, or something else. It's up to you to figure out which way any given puzzle can be solved.

Puzzles will go roughly from least difficult to most difficult. There are eight main puzzles along with a meta puzzle, which will use all the answers to the previous puzzles.

Try starting with the first album, "Oh, the Other One": Think carefully about the album title, cover art, and track list. What do you notice about the cover art? What patterns can you pick up from the song titles? What could "Oh, the Other One" mean?

When you've got an answer, click the "submit" button on the album page. You'll be taken to a password-protected submission form; enter the answer in all caps, no spaces. If you get it right, congrats! Enter your name and email to be entered in the raffle. If you get it wrong, try again! There's no limit on how many guesses you can enter.

I'm still not understanding. What can I do?

If you're stuck, get a fresh set of eyes. Ask a friend for advice. Think about what information you haven't considered yet — each detail is there for a reason, including the cover art in some cases, so don't dismiss something as unimportant just because it seems that way. You may look anything up on the internet.

What supplies do I need to complete this game?

All you need is your mind. All can be solved by taking notes on paper, though a spreadsheet wouldn't hurt.
